Pavilions (permit only)
Located on the east side of the park at the main parking lot at John Downs Loop, Mother's Garden, and Amphitheater. The Ranger Office is also located here.
Two walk in restrooms are located on the main park side. One is located in the north east corner by Pond Overlook and one located at the visitors center at the main parking lot located at John Downs Loop.
The playground will provide your children hours of fun. It's located at the main parking lot at John Downs Loop next to the Amphitheater.
Picnic areas are located throughout the park, please review the map of the park for specific locations. Picnic areas have picnic tables and small charcoal grills for your cooking pleasure.
Downs Park has three large pavilions and one small pavilion. They are located on the east side of the park. The large pavilions accommodate up to 100 persons and small pavilions holds up to 50 persons.
Each pavilion has grills and tables. Reservations for pavilions must be made in advance through the Park's Office. Contact the park office at (410) 222-6230 for additional information. Please review and print the park pavilion rules and regulations.

Chesapeake Room Rental
The stunning Downs Park Information Center building offers a room rental with an incredible view of the Chesapeake Bay. This room is available for receptions, meetings, weddings receptions, and other functions.

Paved Walking and Biking Trails
Our paved trails stretch throughout the park for five miles, from tree covered trails to water front trails. Enjoy all that nature has to offer while taking a relaxing walk, jog, or bike ride. Please review the map for trail layout and details.
Nature Trails and Paths
Hike or bike through the nature trails and paths. This will take you off of the paved trails and onto dirt trails. The trails and paths connect back to paved trails, so no need to worry about getting lost. Please review the map for trail layout and details.
2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the Mother's Garden. Visit the garden and enjoy beautiful flowers and plants. For information and to view some pics, please visit here.
The pier is wheel chair accessible. It is open during normal park hours of 7:00 am - dusk, unless otherwise posted. The park is closed on Tuesdays.
Rules for the pier:
NO swimming or diving
NO pets, bicycles, skateboards, or grills.
NO alcoholic beverages
NO tabacco products
DO NOT cut bait or clean fish on wood rails, benches, or deck.
Children must be supervised.
All Maryland fishing/crabbing laws, rules, and regulations apply.
In an emergency, dial 911 or contact a park ranger.
For your safety, all activites must cease upon the first sound of thunder or sign of lightning. Activities may be resumed only after a 30 minute delay beyond the last sign of lightning or sound of thunder.
